INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM

Softball is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and internationally today.  The New York Softball Academy will bring the young aspiring softball player, beginner to advanced, the finest instruction and the latest coaching methods available through an elite staff.  For an example of a typical daily schedule, click here

Our professional staff will cover both offense and defense.  Offensively, coaches will be breaking down the swing (going over all the mechanics), and players will learn and participate in many drills to execute the correct swing.  Coaches will also breakdown bunting, slapping, base-running and girls will receive some vision training as well.  Defensively, players will learn correct throwing mechanics, fielding fundamentals for both infield and outfield, as well as personally select their preferred position workshop each day.  Our players will experience many of the same drills our college teams practice every day.

Pitching - Our instructional staff will feature current successful college pitchers, as well as college pitching coaches.  These coaches will teach the mechanics of the pitching motion, moving pitches, hitting spots and new pitching drills.

Catching - Young catchers will learn and go through the fundamentals of blocking, framing, throwing, field play as well as learning the mental side of being a catcher.  They will learn new techniques and ideas for them to continue to train on their own, and to become a better catcher.

In addition, our staff will provide players with instructional game experiences to prepare these athletes for outside competition.  The skills and drills they take away from this experience will be a strong foundation for future development.

I would like to thank my staff and all the campers for making the 1st year of NYSA a very successful one.  The positive feedback that we received from our campers and their parents was overwhelming and we feel we accomplished what we set out to do; which was to teach softball at the highest level and give our campers as much instruction possible.

Over the next couple of months I will be organizing our winter clinics and workshops and working on next year’s summer camp.  So please check our website through the Fall and Winter months and see what is up ahead.  Please participate in our poll so we can determine where you heard about the NYSA.

We look forward to the months ahead as we continue to promote the great game of softball.  Feel free to e-mail or call us if you have any questions or concerns about our future programming.

Thank you.
