Hello Campers:

We are three weeks away to our first week of camp at the New York Softball Academy.  Our staff has finished up their collegiate seasons and we are gearing up for the two weeks of camp.  There was a tremendous amount of success this year that our coaches experienced with their perspective programs:

Stony Brook University (33-23-1), advanced to the NCAA Division I Regionals for the first time by beating the University of Albany in the championship game of the America East Conference.  In the first game of the Regional, they played Arizona State University who eventually went on to win the National Championship.  They lost the game 2 – 0, but had ASU on the ropes throughout the game.  So congratulations to Coaches, Melissa Bieman and Bree Nasti for a great season.

New York Institute of Technology (29-19), advanced to the NCAA Division II Northeast Regionals for the first time in program history.  Coaches Steve Christianson and Callie Osbourne led NYIT to their best season in school history. They finished the regular season with a #6 ranking in the Northeast Region. They played perennial powers LeMoyne College and Adelphi University in two tough games.  Congratulations to NYIT for a great season.

Adelphi University (41-21), and Head Coach, Paige Smith along with pitching coach, Danielle Henderson led Adelphi again to the NCAA Division II Northeast Regionals.  Adelphi had a strong performance in both the East Coast Conference Tournament and Regional Tournament again. Adelphi finished the regular season with #3 ranking in the Northeast Region.  Congratulations to Adelphi for another great year.

C.W. Post (48-16), and Coaches Jamie Apicella and Kelsey Walker came off a record breaking year. They broke the school record for most wins, won the East Coast Conference Championship, won the Northeast Division II Regional Championship and advanced to the Division II College World Series for the second consecutive year.  Pitcher, Samantha Yodowitz was selected as Player of the Year for the East Coast Conference and was also selected as First Team All-Region and Second Team All-American. Along with finishing the regular season with #1 ranking in the Northeast Region, C.W. Post finished with a #8 national ranking by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Congratulations to Samantha and C.W. Post for a great season.

As we get closer to the first week of camp, I want to remind you all if you have already enrolled to make sure your paperwork is sent in a timely fashion.  If you have not enrolled, you can enroll quickly on-line or access the brochure on-line and send it in via US mail.  Please pass the word around to your fellow teammates and friends because we would not want them to miss out on a great experience.

Enjoy the beginning of summer and we will see you all in a few weeks.

Sincerely,

Jamie Apicella
Director, New York Softball Academy
